Yes, Marilyn, (dancin emoticon please)
Just what the doctor ordered! |
I agree on L'Auberge Espagnole soundtrack - as cool as the city it's set in, Barcelona.
The Truth About Charlie soundtrack reflects the multicultural eclecticism of modern Paris. And either CD by the French neo-soul group Les Nubians will get you ready for a night on Blvd St. Germain. |
The soundtrack to Jim Jarmusch's latest, "Coffee and Cigarettes", quite european in both tone and texture.

maitaitom, I have that Bachelor in Paris CD. Cool, retro-style cover art too.
In case anyone else is interested in the cover and the song list... http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p...=Ai8ge4j472way Speaking of Dean Martin, I really hadn't listened to him much until the past few years. Once I did, I became really impressed with his voice and phrasing. While there doesn't appear to be a soundtrack to the film Gaudi Afternoon (2001) -- set in, of course, Barcelona -- there's a scene in a club where you hear Dean Martin's cover of "Sway"...a great song! So a fellow Moody Blues fan, a fellow fan of Volterra, and shared (as I recall) Norwegian ancestry...funny we differ so much on Aix. :) A lot of people who aren't familiar with the Moodies first (pre-Days of Future Passed) bluesy album are puzzled by the "Blues" in their name since all their subsequent albums had nothing to do with the blues. One of my greatest thrills was visiting their record store/Threshold Records HQ in Cobham, Surrey, while on my first visit to Europe in 1979. None of them, alas, were there at the time but it was still a fun experience just to be there. By the way, I just discovered, via the All Music Guide, that there's a electronica group from the UK called the Moody Boyz. |
capo, I lived in Hollywood Ca in those days and was an ardent Moody fan..knew all the words, etc. I loved the way they spoke on the album :) (picture me zooming up hill and down hill in a small beat up convertible, singing along at the top of my lungs ( Led Z also)
I am waxing nostalgic as I sit here and cough and read all these lovely posts~ Blacktie, did you get to see Coffee and Cigarettes? I fear I will have to wait a loooong time for it to come to Jax :( coughing coughing, Camille says adieu for now~ |
Poor Scarlett in her wretched humid Jax with horrid summer bronchitis. :(
But at least you get to listen to Buddha Bar. |
And listen to the Triplets singing "Voodo CaCa Rendezvous. . . " Feel better Miss S. |
"CaCa" from our elegant Elle!! ;)

The Music of Antonio Carlos Jobim
|
ah, yes.
What about music to transport you back to the Greek Islands? |
Yes, Scarlett, saw the film Sunday on a whim, and loved it!!! Just a series of vignettes, people talking over their coffee and cigarettes - fun, humorus, touching, sad. Hope it arrives in JAX in the near future. It's not everybody's type, but you would probably adore it. If you see it, post a critique, and since many pay attention to your words, you might be able to help it break even. Small films like that deserve a break. Enjoy your day.

Just to be clear - people with brains, subtlety, interest in human interaction, will cherish this film. LOL, by some freak chance I enjoyed it as well.
|
Hee! Very clever, Blacktie. |
... or truthful, lol, but it matters not, for I did enjoy the film, but if you've a need for action, take a pass, and instead select some paint, and hang on for dear life as you watch it dry. Have a good day.
|
Merci~Blacktie..I will be on the lookout for the film.
I like Jim Jarmusch films, and the music is usually good too~ |
