Favorite day trips from Dublin?

Any advice on favorite day trips from Dublin that are available by bus or train? We won't have a car. Thanks very much!

I admit to being biased, but Kilkenny would make a nice day trip from Dublin. Direct train just under 2 hours. Beautiful medieval city with fabulous castle. Small and compact and easy to walk around without needing any transport when you get there.

Another fabulous choice would be to get a bus out to Glendalough, that is really beautiful and well worth seeing.

Another nice trip is to get the Dart or regular train down the East coast out to Bray/Greystones direction or even down as far as Wexford. You could also get the train up to Belfast.

I heartily second all of KK_cat's suggestions. Cashel can be done in a day trip as well. It does involve a train journey and then change to a bus in Thurles, if I recall correctly.
