Favorite Christmas sights/events in Paris?
DH and I will be in Paris for just a few days, on our way elsewhere, the week before Christmas.
We've been to Paris before, but never at Christmas-time. So what I'm interested in right now are things that are specifically Christmas-y: like especially good places in Paris to see decorations or any other special Christmas-time sights or sounds or events or whatever. Thanks very much for any suggestions! |
The Passages de Paris (such as Galerie Vivienne) ... the lights on the Champs-Elysees ... the window displays on the Grands Magasins ... See a little video from last Christmas here:
http://rozault.com/France2007/Paris2...ges/video.html ) ... lots of Christmas markets (there's a nice one in the 6th arrondissement near St-Sulpice) ... and a trip to the Chateau de Chantilly for the Christmas show at the Museum of the Living Horse: http://www.museevivantducheval.fr/uk...rse-child.html ... a fabulous show, which unfortunately we weren't allowed to photograph. |
By the way, I meant to add, in case you think the sound track on that video is not appropriate, we found that "Jingle Bells" sung in English was an extremely popular holiday song in Paris!

Eating one of those fabulous marshmellow-covered-in-chocolate things sold by vendors while watching the kids sled down the little hill next to the rink at the Hotel de Ville--both set up for the season.

nonna - we are horse owners/lovers and the suggestion about he Museum of the Living Horse is fantastic. I've never seen it. Loved the video too. mel - any suggestion about "marshmellow-covered-in-chocolate things" can't be wrong! So we'll give them a try. ;-> Thanks again. All the best for your holidays. |
