Favorite Amsterdam B&B?
Have been reading and reading and reading and am wondering what is your favorite B&B or small hotel in Amsterdam?
We will be there for approx. 3 days in March. This is our first visit so i'm relying on my reading and the advice of others to get the best location. thanks! |
Stayed at Maes B & B last summer and we were very pleased with everything...nice hosts, breakfast, location.

We really liked the Hotel Residence le Coin last June. Its location can't be beat for central, on a nice quiet street, across from the elegant Hotel de L'Europe. If you click my screen name above, you can find my trip report of London-Paris-Amsterdam, with the names of some restaurants we especially liked. We loved Amsterdam.

We really enjoyed the Hotel Brouwer. Great location

I really enjoyed the Canal House, just right around the corner from the Anne Frank house.
You don't mention your budget. That would be helpful for people to guide you. |
Hotel Singel, at Singel 15. Highly recommended

We found the Hotel Estherea on the Amsterdamby.com website and liked it better than any of the places we've stayed there.

Oops, you're right, forgot to say our budget! Our main goal is to spend less than $200 USD a night. We don't want budget accomodations, prefer something with a little style and comfort and more importantly great location.
thanks! |
given your budget, I think the Canal House would definitely work. I spent 130 euro for a room with a view of the canal, it was either a double/queen size bed, I don't remember for sure, and single occupancy.
This is their website: http://www.canalhouse.nl/ |
I just booked at the Canal House and the rates are 150, 170 or 190 Euros for May depending on the size of the room. Read the reviews on tripadvisor.com for advice on room size, location, etc. I asked for a room with a view of the canal and was offered these prices.

Thanks everyone. It looks like based on rates and location, Mae's B&B would be the best for us. Now I just have to see if there is availability...
|
I think you will be very happy there...we were! The hosts are very helpful and the place is so Amsterdam! There is a little balcony outside to eat snacks on as well. We would return in a heartbeat!

The Maes (and adjacent Heren) are wonderful! Location is convenient to the train station but in a real neighborhood. Hosts Ken and Vlad and their helpers are outstanding. Excellent Dutch breakfast with fresh housemade croissants and really good coffee and lots more. We're making our 4th visit to their place next month. I cannot think of any reason to stay any other place.

I have stayed at the Canal House on 4 different occasions and would highly recommend this lovely B&B. Rather than a canal view I ask for a room overlooking the garden/gazebo in the back. Very quiet rooms with large windows overlooking this lush green oasis. Nice to come back to after touring Amsterdam's busy streets.

Hi iluvs2travel, have to put in a plug for Boogards.(http://www.boogaardsbnb.com/) WE stayed there with my 14 year daughter and her friend a couple of months ago. It is a great location near the Leidseplein. There are actually four rooms (2 on one floor and 2 on another) but a family can book out one whole floor which then includes your own very well appointed kitchen (with supplies), sitting room, bathroom and laundry facilities - all brand new. They even supplied my daughter with a laptop and wireless internet connection! Plus there was a DVD player etc in each room and about 300 DVDs to choose from. The apartment was 200 euro per night and that included breakfast supplies for four of us for just one room obviously less expensive. I would highly recommend it and Peter, the host, was very helpful.

Another vote for Boogard's B&B. We stayed there in early December 2005 and were on the floor where we made our own breakfast. The neighborhood was perfect - quiet but very close to the museums and other attractions. We ate dinner in the neighborhood restaurants on all the nights except on one rainy evening, when we bought food at the local grocery store and cooked at "home." Such a comfortable, relaxing place.
