Fast RT Paris/Venice

First of all, I already checked Ryanair..they didn't list a connection and found no e-mail address for help. I want to fly from Paris, spend the night in Venice and return to Paris the next day. Any suggestions, Fodorites?

celia

I'm not being facetious when I suggest: don't do it! You would need at least two nights stay in Venice for such a trip, and even then....

I hate to discourage anybody from visiting Venice - but your plan sounds a little ambitious. Can you manage more than 1 night in Venice?

No matter how well-meaning was the message from "gluck", it's fun to counter the naysayers with "where's-there-a-will-there's-a-way" spirit.

After all, celia didn't ask us "SHOULD I do this?" - - she asked "HOW could I do it?"

The fact that you mention RyanAir suggests that you are budget conscious. But maybe the truth is that you are in Paris on business, and your employer is going to pick up the cost of this little excursion anyway - - you were just trying to do the right thing.

If you're going to do this at all, then the "right" way (my value judgment) is just forge ahead with the most efficient way.

Europe is not that different from the United states - - an overnight trip is very expensive on a weeknight, but can be hugely less expensive on a Saturday night. Paris-Venice is fairly similar to New York-Atlanta, for example, in this regard.

Weekday? about $729 (USD) - - over a Saturday night? $188! (I don't know how precisely NYC-ATL fares compare)

To get that $188 fare, you'll have to return on the 1:30 (afternoon) flight from Venice to Paris (AF 1427); staying until later that same day will cost hundreds of dollars more. But you can get there at 9:15 on Saturday morning (AF 1126) - - so I think this is not really that unreasonable. I know plenty of people who go to Venice for "two nights", but end up with only one full day. If you use the early morning hours wisely on Sunday - - sunrise in Venice is great for just walking around exploring - - and take a 11:30 (am) water taxi to catch your return flight, I still think you can get a very satisfactory taste of Venice.

Best wishes,

Rex
Thanks, all..Rex and Betsy. I've been to Venice and the thought of being in Europe again and not getting to Venice for just a day even, is not right. Have 2 weeks in Paris, no set schedule, and so......

Betsy, can't connect with www.qixo.com. Any suggestions?
