No where did I state that ALL Mom and Pops will have absolutely the world's BEST food. You offer that their rolls may not be fresh.

I guess that your and Bill's Subway stock must be doing pretty good.

Of course logos999 is smart enough to ask around for recommendations from the locals and they will probably steer him to something pretty good.

Just because these Subway subs are consistent from store-to-store doesn't make them the "end-all" of Subs. Their fare isn't bad at all. I eat at Subway, I just prefer my local establishment to support commerce but more importantly, the subs are generally better.

Thanks, that's what I do, belive it or not, 5 months ago was the first time I entered a "subway", simply because it's new and just a few meters from my flat. And actually it's light years from McD. Fresh lettuce and tomatoes and not too expensive 6.20€ for a 30cm "sub". It's a little too sweet, but o.k.. One sub is enough for a whole day!! Even the bread tastes o.k. when tosted and the free refills are new to us "greedy" germans.

I hate Subway's bread. Stopped eating at Subways about 2 years ago.

Our local Publix Supermarket makes the most delicious Subway sandwiches in the area. They use the top of the line meats and cheeses from their deli department, bake their own bread few times a day, and finally top it off with the fresh veggies from the produce department. Subway couldn't come even close to the Publix sandwich...

btw, anybody ever had an Italian beef sandwich in Chicago? It's a local tradition and it's pretty much a Chicago thing, so you won't be able to find it in too many places outside of the city/state. Some great Italian beef shops in Chicago, but my favorite is Boston's Beef on W.Grand and Al's No.1 Beef on W Taylor. That's one of the first stops I make everytime I visit the best city in the world!!!
