Faro in March what do you think
 

WE are planning a trip of approx 10-14 days in Portugal. We are planning on visiting Lisbon and the surrounding areas. sintra, obidas, elvira. and porto. depending on how much time we have. (sorry about the spelling!)
Would you recommend Faro at this time of year. we have young children who like the beaches or the pools in our hotel. Would any of these be open then. Should we go or skip Faro and spend more time seeing the above places.

Depending on their ages, your children may really enjoy Lisbon, Sintra and Óbidos... my son fell in love with Portugal when he was 4 years old... but there's a lot of driving/moving about during these 2 weeks.

If you would like to minimize car time for the wee ones, rest assured there is no need to drive to Faro (3 hours from Lisbon) just for the beach. There are miles and miles of beautiful beaches and great surfing in the Lisbon area!

The problem you will have is due to the temperature at that time of year. Most hotel pools are really cold then and the sea is not much better. The air temperature is around 16C to 20C in March, so most people that go to the Algarve at that time are beach walkers and not beach sitters or bathers. Also, Faro is certainly not the place I would go to. You would be better off going to Albufeira with young children. There are some hotels there that have indoor pools, but not too many. Because the Algarve is further south than Lisbon, it will be warmer than Lisbon.

Sorry I did mean Albufeira rather than Faro. However, it sounds like that time would be better spent seeing other parts of Portugal. The kids do like to swim in the pools and beaches however, it seems that it would be too cold to do that.
