Farmhouses in Tuscany?Umbria? Which ones are great?
 

Is it possible to stay for one night in several of these - they look great on the internet but Who Knows?? Travelling in late April...feedback????

We spent a week near Cortona in a beautiful renovated farmhouse wiht our own complete kitchen and garden facing the Cortenese mountains. Vittorio Camorri is a wonderful young man who speaks English and we stayed in I Pagliai farmhouse for 310 euro a week. He also represents other properties. Would trust him with my life.

I was interested in staying a 2or 3 locations for a night or 2 (not a full week in one spot) Do they have minimum stays?

You can stay for a weekend at 33euro per person per day. Actually, we only stayed 5 days and he prorated the price for us. Contact him at [email protected]

We use this website, it has many farmhouses, tuscan hotels etc, there are many to choose from and some have nightly rate, just keep looking thru them. Most have email addresses. <BR>Good Luck<BR>www.tuscany.net

Wanderer - I think what you want is a farmhouse B & B where you can stay just a night or two, with breakfast. Some include dinner with the other guests, served family style which is alot of fun. If you only plan to stay one night in each, then it wouldn't make sense to me to pick a self-catering place (with kitchen) as you wouldn't have time to grocery shop and these usually do require a minimum stay, sometimes a whole week.<BR><BR>The only one I've stayed at which is definitely do recommend is Madonna delle Gracie, on the Umbria/Tuscany border...www.madonnadellegrazie.it.<BR><BR>They include both breakfast and dinner. Also have a pool and horseback riding. I found this one both on the Karen Brown Guides (www.karenbrown.com) and in an article on farmstays on www.ladolcevita.com.<BR><BR>Another good website for finding B & B style agriturismos is www.charmingitaly.com.

We have stayed twice at Il Columbiao B&B which is in an old barn but beautifully done. It's about 10 miles south of Siena in a beautfiul village called Torre. Daniele's restaurant recommendations are superb. Here is the web link:http://www.toscanaholiday.com/
