Farmers markets in France

La pisciculture is huge in the Périgord. Fish are spawned and bred and released into the river regularly - it's been a massive effort over the past 15 years or so to restock the Dordogne and, to some extent, the Vézère. Of course anything other than river fish and caviar (a major product of the Dordogne) and possibly snails at market doesn't come from local fishermen, but a fair amount of what's on sale at the market does.

There is a snail farm near Brantôme.
