Farewell To Danny Mangnin

I just read on the US site that today is Danny's last day at Fodors.

So, farewell to Danny, and I wish you the best of luck in your new endeavor

Danny, thanks for all your attention and help.
Who's going to look after us?

cigalechanta Nov 19th, 2004 08:31 AM

Thanks, Lori, and my apologies to the gang in the Europe forum for my message not appearing here as well -- I suddenly can't post new messages myself. (Who's going to look after me and all of you?!). Anyway, here's what's on the other board (and thanks again for five great years of chatter):

Message: Hello All --

Today is my last day at Fodor's, and before I depart I want to say goodbye to everyone in the land of Travel Talk. I've had a great five-year run as the editorial director of Fodors.com, in large part because your insights and helpful hints have made the site such a valuable resource for travelers. I'll miss the daily dose of advice and repartee, though I'm sure my sister, who became a Travel Talk addict after a brief stint as a monitor in 2002, will keep me up to date on the hot gossip. (My mother, on the other hand, will be relieved that her beloved son's name will no longer be taken in vain when there's a problem with the monitors or site performance!)

Best of luck in all your travels. It was a pleasure knowing all of you, if only in cyberspace.

Yours truly,

Danny Mangin

Arrivederci, Danny!!

Marilyn Nov 19th, 2004 08:48 AM

Danny, we hardly knew ye!
Seriously, can we have the name of your replacement? We need to have SOMEONE's name to take in vain!
All the best to you, and thanks for everything you've done,
Marilyn

Yes, we will miss you Danny. Where are you going?

MrAmazed Nov 19th, 2004 09:10 AM

Danny, be smart and DON'T tell anyone here where you're going!

Now we have to figure out who Danny's mother and sister are.... Come clean.

sfowler Nov 19th, 2004 09:30 AM

Thanks so much -- it was a good ride:)
May the world be your oyster!

Sorry to see you go, Danny. Happy travels in your new endeavor. Are you sure you don't want to reconsider? :-)

Danny:

My very best wishes and prayers for your future. Over the past five years you have shown that objectivity, professionalism, compassion and class can occur on the internet.

The person taking over your responsibilities has huge shoes to fill. My best to her/him as well.

Fodors I am sure has shown you gratitude from the awesome strides that you helped them to make. I am also grateful that you allowed many of us to take strides forward in our growth as posters who travel, debate, dominate and share in written discussions that often leaps right into our "real" space.

Through my spirited writings and trademark travel reports I embarked upon a very fulfilling, quite busy and most successful profession of travel writing and speaking.

Don't be a stranger and by all means if you post come up with a creative moniker like: "Former Boss of You!"

My Travel Best,
Oaktown Traveler

Take care, Danny and thanks for putting up with us through the good AND bad (thinking of the headaches you must have had pe-registration!)

Can we count on you to come on here as a "regular?" now?

mclaurie Nov 19th, 2004 10:10 AM

Lots of good luck. =D> Does this explain why the site's been such a technical mess lately? :)

SusanP Nov 19th, 2004 10:11 AM

Sorry to see you go, but good luck in whatever you'll be doing.

easytraveler Nov 19th, 2004 10:13 AM

Thanks, Danny, for a class act!

Good luck to you in all your future endeavors! :)

cigalechanta Nov 19th, 2004 10:13 AM

I think you're right mclaurie, the gods ar angry he's leaving.

TopMan Nov 19th, 2004 10:15 AM

Too bad you couldn't fix the website before you left.
