" . . . make the return trip along the northerly route - possibly taking a detour for lunch in St. Andrews along the way. "

Dashing out so just one quick comment - Spean Bridge to St Andrews will take more than 3 hours car time, and the whole drive more than five hours (plus stops) I'd probably forget about squeezing in St Andrews - there is lots along the more direct A9 to make for a nice trip Including Blair Castle, Dunkeld, Scone/Perth.

Sounds good. Thank you!

I know from our trip to the UK last September that google maps pretty much presents a minimum time frame and that it is good to realize that the trip might take a lot longer!

More re Family trip to Scotland - golf

I took another look at the Glencruitten Golf Club in Oban and read reviews indicating that the terrain and design make it a bit challenging. What golf courses might you suggest in the Oban, Fort William, Spean Bridge or even Inverness areas? My husband and sons enjoy golfing but don't get out that often. Thanks in advance!
