Family Travel Paris and Barcelona
 

My family - wife and 3 children (20, 18, 13) - will travel to Europe this August. It is less expensive to fly directly to London but would like to spend time in Paris and Barcelona. I have reviewed apartments in Paris but would prefer suggestions on the most economical way to travel from London to Paris and Barcelona and suggestions for housing. Any other ideas will be greatly appreciated.

How much more does it cost to fly directly into Paris and out of Bacelona (or vice versa)?

You need to calculate how much it'll cost to fly between London/Paris and Barcelona/London for your family of 5; plus the additional cost of transportation to/from city to airports.

Lastly, stopping in London to connect flights means time taken away from Paris/Barcelona.

Whether all this extra cost and trouble is worth it to you, you'll have to do the math yourself.

i wouldnt recommend ryanair, even tho the flights are budget, you have to get to the out-of -town airports which costs about 13 euro one-way per person, in comparison with arriving at a central Paris or BCN airport with your metro card (about 1 euro each).
Try vueling.com for economy flights between paris and barcelona. keep watching the flights as prices yo-yo.

The second is 120 a night for 5, which is pretty good. Poble Sec is a "walkable area", near montjuic.

I agree with above in flying directly to paris if posible, london ground transportation and transfers are verrry expensive.

I stayed in the Casp apartment in Barcelona through Habitat Apartments (www.habitatapartments.com)last April and I was really pleased with their service.

This was the first time we had stayed in an apartment in Barcelona and would certainly do so again with Habitat Aaprtments. We definitely recommend them. The gentleman (I think he was called Ramond) that met us to book us in was very professional and the Casp apartment was ideal for our needs and location (in the Eixample area walking distance to places of interest). We stayed in Habitat's Tessa apartment - loved it and it would be perfect for a family the size of yours (3 bedrooms, 2 baths, full kitchen including clothes washer, lovely terrace).

I've been to quite a few places in Europe and I will say that if someone asked me where they should take their kids ages 20, 18 and 13, I'd say Paris and Barcelona. You have made an excellent choice!!!!!

My husband and I rented this apartment in Barcelona for November, it's 1100 square feet which is huge by European standards, I believe it sleeps 6 and has a nice full size kitchen. It's within walking distance to all the fun stuff, but far enough away in a residential area to be peaceful. I liked working with this agency, they were very professional and easy to work with.
