Family room in Rome
My family of 4, 2 adults 2 teens, will be in Rome for a week. Are we better off finding a hotel with family rooms or any apartment? Any suggestions for either? Thanks.

ayla,
there are loads of threads about this and info on the internet. also if you look at venere [for hotels] or sleep in italy [for apartments][they are just examples, there are many more] you can search for the size of accommodation you want. personally, we have always opted for at least two rooms - either two separate rooms in a hotel or an apartment with at least two bedrooms, and when travelling with our teens, we much preferred apartments. you get much more room, plus the freedom to cook some meals for yourselves, & make breakfast and hot drinks [which can be very expensive], though the last time we were in Rome, we only used our very well-equipped kitchen to make tea and squeeze oranges for fresh juice! good luck! |
Check out italyperfect.com
I just rented an apartment in Rome last week from this service and it was great! |
In spite of being redundant (from all the other threads about this) I say get an apartment. You won't spend any more, may spend less. You will have more room -- a living room with a kitchenette, possible 2 bedrooms and maybe even 2 bathrooms, depending on which apt you rent. You will have more space to just spread out and relax. You can cook as much or as little as you like. We have breakfast in the apt., usually have a big lunch out while we are sight-seeing, and have something light in the evening at the apartment, like a salad or omelette or something. You also have a nice experience grocery shopping, where you encounter Italians living their lives in the city, and see how different the experience can be from what we are used to.
Sleepinitaly.com and VRBO.com are our favorite sources of apartments. |
Well, I was redundant with annhig's post. Sorry.

lol, charness, how many times have I done that too.
nice to know that I'm in good company. |
Definitely an apartment. Not only the space, privacy and comfort, but with a little research you can stay in the part of the city that best fits your interests.
We used www.romepower.com a couple of years ago and were pleased. Not the cheapest, but professional, nice places and the web site has listings by zone. |
