Family lodging needed in Grindelwald, Gimmelwald, Wengen or Murren
Hallo,
We are looking for family lodging in Grindelwald, Gimmelwald, Wengen or Murren Switzerland for several nights. The family includes grandparents, parents and teenagers. A farm guest house would be perfect. Is this even possible? Thanks for any insights, island_breeze |
Drawbridge to Europe found the perfect place in Grindelwald for us and our friends. They specialize in Switzerland and Germany and were wonderful to work with from their Oregon based office.

What kind of lodging in this area did you use and were you pleased?

There are definitely chalets and farmhouses available in all of those locations. You can just query on self-catering accommodation and then each town. You can also use websites like www.holiday-rentals.co.uk which allow you to search based on number of bedrooms or how many the place sleeps. Depending on the time of year, some places require a minimum of 3 nights or even 7 nights. But if it is not the peak season you might have no trouble.

Thank you see the world,
the website has many options to review. ~island_breeze |
Watch Out! You do not want to book with Olle & Maria's B & B. On June 16/12 I booked a room for Sept. 24, 25 & 26/12. I provided a deposit of half of the total cost of this expensive B & B. On July 17/12 we had to cancel our trip. I immediately gave Olle OVER TWO MONTH's NOTICE. He would not refund my deposit.
We had also booked accommodation in 9 other hotels/B & Bs through-out Switzerland. ALL establishments were gracious & refunded 100% of our deposits. It is clear that it is not common practice in Switzerland to keep a deposit when a booking is cancelled, especially with OVER TWO MONTH's NOTICE of the cancellation. This was not only poor customer service, but I feel that we were taken advantage of by an unscrupulous innkeeper! |
Pamelaaddinall: Welcome to Fodors. Did you happen to notice this thread is more than two years old? Assume you registered just to slam this place?
The B&B's website says a deposit is required. When you booked what was their cancellation policy? If it is non-refundable . . . that's what it means. Or did they give you options such as cancel w/i 2 months get some % back?? |
