family discounts on italy trains

Can anyone tell me if they offer family tickets? Traveling from Rome to Venice. Trenitalia site quotes 45 euros for one person. Thanks

There is a family ticket for 2 adults traveling with a child (children?) but the site is down now, so I can't give you a quote.

Ira,

Could you tell me where you go to look for this information?

I was in Italy this past June with my daughter and 9 years old grandson. We travelled by train a lots to various cities in different parts of Italy. I did not realized at first that every time I bought our tickets( first class), the only thing I paid for my grandson was the seat reservation, until I had to buy the tickets for Nice, and the agent told me that because i was going to France, I had to pay his fare from Ventimiglia to Nice, because in France the SNCF do not give the Family discount.

Hi jewell,

The Italian train website is www.trenitalia.com.

You can't buy tickets online, but you can get prices and schedules.
