My family of 4 will be spending 5 nights on the Amalfi Coast the first week of July. We’ve decided we’d like to stay in Positano. I spent hours last night and wasn’t very successful in finding accomodations that I’m hoping for. My 2 kids are 11 and 14. I’d love a hotel that has a “family suite” option that has 2 bedrooms, or at least 2 queen/kings and a separate seating area. Basically I’m looking for a little more space. I found many beautiful places but most could not accommodate more than 3 people. We can spend up to $500-600 per night to get a comfortable, clean, spacious room, good location, and great view. Any recommendations appreciated!

You've left it rather late to book for next July, as most of the decent accommodation can get booked up a year or two in advance. Regulars to the AC reserve their rooms for the next time as they leave.

This is by no means a full list and you'll have to wade through them for availability. Maybe don't hold your breath.

Your best bet would be an apartment. We always rent an apartment when visiting Positano rather than a hotel so we have more space, meal options and the ability to do laundry if necessary.

Go to VRBO.com and search accommodations for 4 people. You'll get a lot of results, especially in your price range. Just be careful that the one you choose is close to the city center.

We rented an apartment at La Tavolozza along with an another couple and couldn't have been more pleased with it.

Two large bedrooms, living room, two bathrooms, kitchen, terrace that ran the length of the apartment and overlooked the sea. It is located beside La Sireneuse and within walking distance of restaurants, a grocery/wine store, cafés, and pretty much everything else.

Ten-minute walk down to the beach and ferries.

December is hardly "rather late" for booking Positano for a July vacation. If you don't want an apartment, look at Booking.com, where you can filter the search specifically for your dates plus specify the number of guests or that you want adjoining rooms. Then read reviews for what's available. If you want an apartment, look at AirBnb and Summer in Italy. There are other apartment brokers as well. Read multiple reviews and pay attention to bed configurations and how many stairs you need to climb (if that matters to you) to get to the sea.

www.summerinitaly.com usually requires a 7 night booking in high season but no harm in asking.
