Family accommodation in Dublin
 

We are a family of 5 and will have 2 nights in Dublin at the end of a 9 week trip, and before the long haul back to Oz. . Booking for 4 is OK- it's the 5th person that always makes it tricky.
Can anyone recommend a nice hotel or B&B, where we can get rest and be handy to the city in Dublin?

You might look for accomodations in either Howth or Malahide. They are a short train ride from Dublin and each are nice towns on their own. They are also very close to the airport which is good for the day that you leave to return home.
We stayed in a B&B in Malahide last April and discovered that there are lots of B&B's there. If you are willing to split up into 2 rooms, then you shouldn't have much problem finding accomodations. (During our stay in Ireland, we had some B$B rooms that slept 2 and some that slept 3.)

We liked the Fitzwilliam Guest House in Dublin, maybe in a couple of rooms?

Is there a Jury's that could work? As I understand it they have large family rooms available -- I have heard this often from Irish friends but have not stayed in one, since a small B&B works for me. I'm sure someone else will chime in with better info.

There's also a Fitzwilliam Hotel closer to Grafton St. but that's not the one I mean.

If there is 5 of you and it is completely out of season you should look at booking a holiday home. Most owners will take a 2 night booking at this time of the year and it will be much cheaper than a hotel or B&B. This year most holiday home or holiday appartment owners would be delighted to hear from you.

i am sure you will find something which is good value and in the centre of town. Bargain hard - you should get a good discount too.

For 5 people in Dublin, I would recommend finding a private apartment rental. I stayed in a 2-bedroom apartment right in the city center (IFSC area) and was very happy with the quality and location.
