Carol
(see my reply to your question re Disneyland Paris also)

Re London, my family of four have just returned from 2 months in Europe. We stayed at the Travel Inn at Putney bridge. There are four in central London. The cost is only 69 pounds per night per room of 1-4 people included. If you are willing to stay a little further out eg at Kenton, the cost is only 39 pounds per night per room. Even 80 pounds for two rooms is pretty good. The rooms are quite large with a double bed and sofa lounge. They also have single fold out beds. We saved by buying breakfast items, plastic bowls etc, and going to local supermarket. I assume you are from the US. Atleast your dollar is a good rate. We paid Aus$2.40 to the pound! These are really clean hotels and very modern. Great room security. They also have a very reasonable restaurant and a bar with snacks, light meals. It really depends on how long you are staying. We stayed four nights. Any longer, you may want to consider an apartment. The other plus, is they are all situated close to the underground lines and bus routes - very good especially when travelling with a LOT of luggage. Also when you depart, if by plane, consider getting a taxi or mini bus to the airport, it actually worked out cheaper than train tickets!
Have a wonderful time. Also in Paris we stayed at the Lux Hotel Picpus. It was on the train line to Disneyland which was why I picked it. Very good rates, great buffet breakfast, and very friendly staff (Also laundromat/drycleaner two doors away and cheap self serve restaurant they call 'casinos', around the corner at Nation suburb). You can find both hotels on the internet. Just type in their names for details. Lisa
