Familia Hotel, Paris
Any good or bad comments regarding the Familia Hotel in Paris' Latin quarter?

Hi,
We stayed there in March 2001, Room 507.
The hotel is in a good location close to Metro and bus links with plenty of places to eat nearby.
The hotel room was small (but aren't they all in Paris unless you are paying megabucks), but clean with a good bathroom.
We were on the street side of the hotel with a small balcony from which we could see the roof of Notre Dame as well a many other of the "French rooftops".
Breakfast was not much to shout about, but adequate and I would certainly stay there again, just for it's location and reasonable price.
Enjoy your trip
Regards
Maggie.

We stayed there a couple of years ago. We are going back to Paris this spring, but we are not staying there this time. Familia is well located. Rooms were small. We were along the street, so there was a lot of noise. M. Gaucheron, who is the manager and owner I believe, was sometimes helpful and other times brusk. Breakfast room was tiny and thus always crowded. An okay place to stay. I would not vote against it, but I obviously didn't make a point to stay there again. PJK

Thanks for the feedback.

What about Hotel St. Jacques or Grand Hotel des Balcons which are in the same location? Are these better?
Cal, I am partial to the 6th arr. so would go with Grand hotel des Balcons. Great location, rooms are simply decorated and small-but the hotel is charming and very popular. I have never stayed there, but looked at the rooms on are last trip to Paris.
