Isn't Falmouth in Jamaica??

Uh - no, Tracy. I believe this Falmouth is in SW England :-)

travelnut - if this is a fairly short shore excursion during you round the British Isles cruise - just plan on enjoying Falmouth or St Mawes across the bay.

But if you have all day then I'd think about renting a car and getting to St Michaels Mount, Penzance and maybe to the north coast near St Ives.

Falmouth is an attractive old town. The main street is very lively in summer and has lots of little shops, cafés, restaurants and old pubs. The town is also a major holiday resort with good beaches. On the headland is Pendennis Castle. There are boats every half hour to the very pretty village of St Mawes which also has a fine castle - they were built to defend the harbour in, I think, the fifteenth or sixteenth century. The cathedral city of Truro is about ten miles away and can be reached by regular boats up the river (www.enterprise-boats.co.uk), by bus or by train. Falmouth also has a new maritime museum which opened this year (www.nmmc.co.uk).
