fall in netherlands?

Is four or five days too short for a first visit to Amsterdam? Any hotel recs? What is fall weather like there?

4 or 5 days is about right since Amsterdam is a nice and beautiful city but when I was there, I did not find that many tourists attractions. Stayed at the Ambassade Hotel and it is highly recommended.

Oh, it is lovely in the fall! you'll need a coat and sweater, but it is wonderful. Can't help with hotels (have always stayed with family), but there is plenty to do in 4-5 days: the wonderful museums, walking the canals and stopping at fun cafes (also do a canal boat ride around in the afternoon and have a good dutch beer). Fun day trips around too--go to Delft, the Hague (the palace and the Mauritshuis), and Schevenign (sp?) to see the North Sea.<BR>Have a wonderful time!

I am also visiting Amsterdam the first week of Oct. Wondered if the wind would be cold off the North Sea. Would you suggest a long raincoat?
