falafels
We're leaving for Amsterdam Wednesday and several of you are saying how great falafels are. I never heard of them. Sounds like a food I shouldn't miss? I'll check tomorrow to see if anyone has an answer.

Here's the web site of my favorite falafel stand in Amsterdam. http://www.maoz.nl

Falafels are a middle eastern food. They consist of ground chick peas, which are spiced and deep fried. The little chick pea balls are placed inside warm pita bread with lettuce, tomato, and tahini sauce, a kind of sesame seed dressing. They are freshly made and served at outside stalls or counter restaurants around Amsterdam. What makes them special there and is you can add your own condiments - vegetables, olives, hot pepper, relish, etc. all for about 5 euros (or however you make that funny little sign on the keyboard.)

Thanks everyone for the falafels explanation. I went to the MOAZ site and can't wait to try them. We're off tomorrow for beautiful Amsterdam. I hope they have some sun for us!
