Fabulous stays in Verona / Lake Garda
Any recommendations for fabulous places to stay in Verona and/or Lake Garda? I am planning at least 1 night when we forget the budget and go for one for the memory

Lawrence,

Three years ago, I made a one-night stop at Du Lac et du Parc hotel/resort in Riva del Garda. It has very nice rooms and fantastic grounds and location -- several pools, lots of trees and a beach on the lake. It was truly wonderful. A splurge of sorts, to be sure, but a great place to do one. It appears that most rooms run from 210-300 Euro. Sirmione.

and various places on the "northwest" coast, south of Riva.

And I agree that Du Lac et Du Parc looks very good. Stopped in there last fall - - it was only two miles from the villa where we stayed on the Italy Fodorites' 2002 fall trip.

Best wishes,

Rex

Best wishes,

Rex
Villa Cortina Palace. Fabulous old world elegance.

Spent part of 5th anniversary at the Due Torri in Verona. What a romantic and very walkable city. Each of the rooms is furnished in a different period antiques--very elegant. Have a wonderful dinner at 12 Apostoli and then walk through the pedestrian zoned streets back to the hotel or stop for an espresso. The lakes are also beautiful but Verona is something very special. We keep returning every chance we get.

Thank you for the postings - keep them coming! Can you share any special experiences/places in Verona while you were there. Looks like we might stay on for more than 1 night.
