Eze, Vence & St. Paul de Vence - worth it or too crowded?
Hello,
I'm going to a have a couple free days after attending a conference in Nice the beginning of June. These villages sound interesting - but they also sound very, very crowded. Any opinions on whether they're worth visiting in June? Thanks, Shanti |
We went to Eze last July, it was not too crowded and was most definitely worth the trip from Nice, take bus 82 ligne d'azur or 112 tam. Incidently, we walked down from Eze village to Eze sur Mer over the mountain and took bus 100 back to Nice, walk took about an hour.

Hi Shanti; For us, crowded means these villages are 'alive'. I can never understand people who are tourists, trying to avoid the tourists. They are wonderful medieval villages if that's what you enjoy. In Eze, have lunch at the www.chateaueza.com/ Sit on the terrace looking 1300 feet down into the sea. iris1745/dick

Vence is really not that crowded - St Paul drains away most of the day-trippers.
The trick to avoiding the crowds, is to get to St Paul around 9 am, or late in the afternoon. Same with Eze. Stu Dudley |
I've stayed in St Paul-de-Vence several times and it is in the morning when the crowds arrive. By dinner, everyone has left for other locations. If you have never seen a perche village,
Eze, this is a good one to start with. |
Wow - thanks for your input - and for the info on transportation and that restaurant. I clicked on the link - what a view! I hope they have something vegetarian on their menu.
That was an easy decision. I'll definitely visit the three but will get an early or late start. |
