Eze-le-village

Has anyone been to Eze? I am staying there for one night on my way from Lyon to Nice. Is it a pain to get to? I have heard about a bus from Nice but any additional info would help out a lot.
Thanks!
Somer

Yes, I've been to Eze.
It is at the top of a mountain, but I'm sure that the bus will get you there no problem. There are no cars in the actual walled town, only outside the town where the bus will drop you off. I think you will love staying there. You can walk the town and see everything easily in one day as it is very petit. The view of the Mediterranean are fabulous.

Eze is one of those old villages that has been inundated by tourists, especially bus tours who drop in for a few hours and to visit the Ersatz perfume 'factory'. but it has a smashing view over the coast and for one day fine. Not a great base because of its isolated location - on a busy busy road; does have buses to Nice and other Riviera locales that drop you off right on the edge of the town. It also has train service, but this is deceptive as the Eze-sur-Mer station is down at the bottom on the cliff, about a 1000 steep steps up to the village. some famous philosopher used to take the walk regularly - it's nice hike but strenuous going up - thru semi-arid landscape.

I go to Eze often as I rent an apartment not far from there. It really isn't on the way between Lyon and Nice as it is about 15 miles east of Nice. If you go between May and October the easiest way is to take the train from Nice or wherever, get off at Eze Sur Mer and take the shuttle bus from the station to the village. Costs about 7 euros each way. Off season or if you prefer anytime you can take the bus from the Nice bus terminal (near the old town) to Eze village. Costs about three or four euros. It's well worth a visit. Adjacent to the village is the famous "Fragonard" perfum factory where you can take a free tour with a guide who speaks the language of your choice. At the end of the tour you will be expected to buy a little something but the prices are heavily discounted at the factory. I took the tour at the Grasse factory last month.

Sorry for hi-jacking, but I've been intrigued with this one too. From St. Jean Cap Ferrat would one have to go west to Nice to get on the right corniche?

I enjoyed Eze. I took a bus from Nice, scenic drive, the caves in the mountainside that have been converted to apartments, hillside hotels with crisp white square canvas umbrellas shading patio tables. While I don't like to spend much time shopping I admit that I am still using the little pot of Fragonard face cream that I bought there over a year ago. And the vista is fantastic. There are a few tucked away restaurants that overlook the entire mountain and valley. It's an invigorating walk, and such wonderful fresh flavours of provencal cooking. still, my preference would be a visit and a stay in one of the wonderful hotel in St. Paul de Vence. Enjoy!

To Hopingtotravel

From Cap Ferrat, the most direct route to Eze village is east through Beaulieu staying on the main street of BSM past the business district (2 blocks) and then turn left one block past business district at the elementary school. Go up the hill leading to the moyenne corniche. Eze is located on the right side of the moyenne corniche immediately after crossing the high level bridge over the canyon.

Thank you, just the info I was looking for!

Larry, great answer. I could picture us heading back into Nice and spending most of a morning swirling around lost! I just printed your directions.
