Besides the lavender ice cream in Tourrettes-sur-Loup, the shops were very nice, and reasonable. I did purchase some nice costume jewelery there for myself and my friends. It was a shop where the artist made jewelry from stones of many colors.

Speaking of Tourettes, I just went there a little over a week ago, I'm afraid it didn't do much for me, just like St. Paul de Vence did not, but now as to the lavender ice cream, there are some FANTASTIC gelato/ice cream places in Nice-and they all featured lavender ice cream-FINOCCHIO'S in Nice is really good in the vieux ville-made on the premises-excellent!

Living in Eze, i have checked Eze phone directory and cannot trace any Sopie boutique as such.
May be is it a term of english that i dont know...
If it has something to see with Parfumerie Fragonard (sopie = soap ?) they phone number is 00 33 04 93 36 44 65.

Perhaps a bit off the original topic, but in my travels I have found some of the places to be far different day and night hours.
For instance, I have stayed in Carcassonne at Hotel la Cite and in St. Paul de Vence at the St. Paul Hotel.
Carcasonne during the day is a nightmare..horrible..at night when the tourists are gone it is spectacular!! The same for St. Paul de Vence and Eze.

One of my favorite "souveniers" from a Mediterranean trip was purchased in Eze. It's a thin burled wood cheese board from a small shop. The proprietor makes them and they're lovely. He also has wooden bowls, spoons, etc. His shop is nat far from the entrance after the 2nd flight of stairs. Don't miss it.

Well tourists go there for a reason as with most crowded places. If you can go early or late in the day or on a shoulder season you won't find the crowds. I love Eze, I fell in love with it years ago and make a point of visiting everytime I am in the area.
Last trip I went back into my favorite little shop where they sell handmade jewelry from local artisans, Pyrodecor on rue Pincipale. I bought the most lovely bracelet and I am sorry I was too frugal to buy the matching necklace!
Yes, have drinks (or a meal) and enjoy the same view that kappa shows you. Yes, it is expensive but you will have lasting memories of it.
And there are other similar towns but if we keep talking about them, then they will become crowded and "touristy" too. Now we wouldn't want that would we?

dolciani,
I know that shop. We were there last October.
I loved the olive wood things there, and couldn't decide excatly what to buy. I really wanted the olive wood nutcracker--or a bowl--or a cheese board...
Indecision won, and I am so sorry that I didn't get anything!
But when I go back...

Yes, Byrd, I agree. And when I use my the beautiful cheeseboard, I always hear "This is beautiful, where did you ever find something like this?" b/c it's so unusual. I'm glad I decided to buy it and each time I use it, the memories of our trip return.

I love the olive wood shop too. We stopped there on the way up and I made the decision to buy a salad bowl. My husband said to buy it on the way down so we didn't have to haul it with us. We lost track of time and when we got back to the shop it was closed. 20 minutes to late. Still think about it..a lovely shop and salad bowl.
