EZE?

We were in Eze on Weds. Please apart from the view-why is this town so popular?I have not seen so many shops in one concentrated area w/ few views once in the thick of things. Not impressed. If one wants tremendous views drive or take the bus futher up the moutain.

kelliebellie Jul 1st, 2005 02:01 PM

You're crazy! Eze was the cutest little town I've ever seen.

Underhill Jul 1st, 2005 02:06 PM

Different strokes for different folks...some like Eze-village, some don't. That doesn't make anyone crazy.

Patrick Jul 1st, 2005 02:18 PM

Well, I have to agree that the original above was a pretty funny post. So there are no views from the center of the town, and if you want views you should go up the mountain? Duh? Yea. Would you tell us the name of the exciting little medieval village with the views you're talking about? Or are you saying that there are nicer views from the mountain in the countryside? I'd think that would be a given. I get the idea you don't like little villages, but prefer the outdoors. Sure, lots of people do. Now what happened to you in Eze that made you write this post?

Patrick Jul 1st, 2005 02:21 PM

Ah. I just clicked on the screen name and read quite a number of previous posts. Now I understand totally!

Underhill Jul 1st, 2005 02:28 PM

D'accord, Patrick. Good catch.

FREDMADCEL Jul 1st, 2005 03:53 PM

Dear Patrick- Did you not notice that the village was shop after shop after shop-nice items but come on.I admit there were two or three view -one below the fancy hotel and one above and then if youcan find the top view point -cough up four euros each.As far as my other posts what do they have to do w/ Eze?My point on spectacular views was that if you continue up the views are spectacular-cut some slack and try to appreciate differences in what others see or don't see.Educate not ridicule! Can't wait for your response.

Patrick Jul 1st, 2005 05:46 PM

No response. Your other posts speak volumes about your tastes, interests, likes, and dislikes. They answer your own comments better than I could.

FREDMADCEL Jul 2nd, 2005 04:58 PM

empty response-sums you up well

In all due respect to above retorts i came away with the same opinion of Eze as original post - not much here - maybe when tourists clear out it gains some semblance of a romantic hill, or cliff, town. Even the perfume factory is Ersatz.

janis Jul 2nd, 2005 06:45 PM

From our friend's previous posts -- one would think the only reason for his trip is to see how much he could upset/abash/embarass his poor suffering wife. It was sooooo important he had to start three diferent threads about this.

What a sleaze . . . . .

Patrick Jul 2nd, 2005 06:55 PM

So true.
And my opinion of Eze is not so great either. That wasn't my point. Some people like some places that others do not. That's understandable. But to write that there aren't many views from the middle of a town (and you go there to see the town), or that the views are better from the top of another mountain -- well, yes, isn't that just common sense?

lyb Jul 2nd, 2005 07:53 PM

Okay, I'll admit to my ignorance, where is Eze?

Underhill Jul 3rd, 2005 03:26 PM

Eze is a hilltop vilalge in Provence, along a coastal road between Nice and Monaco.

Azoria Jul 3rd, 2005 04:42 PM

We honeymooned in the French Riviera and one of our stops was Eze. We spent the night at the nice hotel in Eze, the Chateau d"Orr. It was one our favorite spots bc the rooms and views out of our room was incredible and the food in the hotel was to die for. I don't understand what you mean that there weren't any views. Did you go up to the top where the gardens are? Walking in Eze on the tiny narrow streets made you feel like you were thrown back in time. At least that is how I felt... oh well...

Patrick Jul 3rd, 2005 06:14 PM

Azoria, you are right. The views are spectacular as you peer out between every other building, from the several restaurant terraces, and of course from the gardens near the top. I think the poster was suggesting that if you are standing inside all the tourist shops there you won't get views as nice as if you were on a mountain above there. I agree. Duh.

AAFrequentFlyer Jul 3rd, 2005 06:24 PM

And I thought this was all about Buenos Aires :-D - EZE is the airport code for BA.

Azoria Jul 4th, 2005 04:17 AM

Thanks Patrick for clearing that up for me. :-) I couldn't understand what he was talking about . ????

Patrick Jul 4th, 2005 04:22 AM

That's OK. Nor can he, apparently.

FREDMADCEL Jul 5th, 2005 11:23 AM

PATRICK/JANIS-Maybe you can share your views on your recent vist to Eze not insault others who may have been caught up in the labryinth of shops etc.Share tips on on how to maximize ones experience not try to interpret past postings and insult ones charactor. And try spending less time on thissite if it leads you to such trash talkings. Thanks
