No, I really. don't get out much when when I'm in Zurich. Always there on business. I also don't care for anything that is opera - I admitted that I'm not a fan. Maybe my wife already knows about it.

Besides, I don't mean any offence, but I don't like going there as I find that being serious and not smiling seemed to be the standard practice.

I haven't been to Milan but lived in Zurich for several months and I wouldn't necessarily reccommend it as a holiday destination. Have to agree with the comments on people walking around looking more dour than delightful! If the attitude of those who live in Milan is anything like that of the people of Ticino (warm, friendly, relaxed), then Milan would definitely be my pick.

Thanks so much for the great advice, everyone! After discovering that the train trip from St. Moritz to Milan is 7 hours, we decided to backtrack to Zurich and fly out of there to Paris for a few days. Poor me, huh? If we had a longer time to spend, would have taken the bus/train etc down to Milan, but this is a very short trip- only 6 days- and hate to spend most of it in transit.
