Thank you starrsville, I have bookmarked the website you posted. And did check it out. Am now waiting to hear from the kids, as SIL is on phone with cousins in Italy. Oh life, it is sometimes overwhelming. Thanks again for the info.

Spygirl,a million thanks!! I was hoping you would check back on this thread. DD just called, SIL just hung up on the call from his cousins in Rome. I will know more in a bit. I truly appreciate your help. SIL now has to tell DD what the cousins had to say (as conversation in Italian so DD didn't understand all of it). We will proceed carefully but quickly. Again, thank you for taking the time to give me your info and advise, which believe me will be followed. Best wishes.

I googled and got the same info Spygirl did -
International Visa Service

I'd call them both (SF and Atlanta location), talked to them and see if what they say matches and makes sense.
The www.visalady.com site lists exactly what documentation needs to be sent with the passport (if you go that route).

OK, I am reporting back, as so many of you were so kind to answer my question. After many phone calls etc., I called the airlines that I always use. And yes, I got tickets for my daughter issued in the name that is on her current passport plus of course the tickets for my SIL.
Ooooh, big sigh of relief regarding that problem. So many more problems and frustrations down the road for sure but at least my SIL and DD will be in Rome for two weeks at least, or more if needed, taken care of family problems there. Again, my thanks from me and my family for all your good advice and concern. It is truly appreciated.
