Exploring Lake Garda

My family (7 adults) and I will be in Torri del Benaco for the first week of September. I was wondering what the best way to explore the Lake Garda area would be.

We are planning on visiting Verona. Other than that we would really like to explore the lake area. What is the best way to visit some of the Lake towns? We will have a vehicle.

Any advice, tips or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Colleen

The ferry system on the lake is quite extensive.

The ferry stops in many towns, but IMO the service isn't frequent enough for easy exploration of the lake. If you don't want to drive, take the ferry. If you want to see as much as possible, drive.

Here are the ferry timetables through May 31st. You'll have to check after that date for the summer schedule.

We very much enjoyed taking the cablecar from Malcesine to the top of Mount Baldo. Malcesine is a nice destination, too.

Thanks

The cable car sounds like a wonderful idea, we will definately have to try that. I think everyone would love it.

Sounds like the best way to get around will be via car. That is fine and it will definately give us more flexibility, but I was wondering what the towns were like as far as parking. Is it difficult to find?

Thanks again
Colleen

Parking shouldn't be too bad in September, but some towns will be easier than others. Just make sure you read and understand the parking signs. Or ask a local.
