Exploring Greenwich from the O2 Arena
Hello! We are traveling to London in September for some events at the O2 arena. We have a few hours to kill between sessions and wondering if its feasible to explore Greenwich by foot during that time- see Greenwich Park and the Meridian Line, maybe visit a few pubs. Is this feasible or overly ambitious? TIA!

Welcome to Fodors. Very easy. Take the Jubilee Line from North Greenwich Station (next to the O2) to Canary Wharf, then a short walk to the DLR (light rail) station at Heron Quay and DLR to the Cutty Sark. Or take a bus from North Greenwich to the Trafalgar Estate stop adjacent to the Old Royal Naval College. Either journey would take about 20 minutes.

. . . meant to add you could also take a taxi -- but that would only save about 10 minutes

Thank you janisj Happy to be here and learn from you all. Any recommendations for good pubs in the area?

There are lots of pubs in Greenwich. A few:
The Cutty Sark (the pub, not the ship -- which s also worth a visit) has a full menu and waterside seating. The Trafalgar Tavern is very large and also has waterside tables. The Plume of Feathers is a CAMRA pub (Campaign for Real Ale) and is much smaller and is near the Queen's House and the park and s shorter walk to the Royal Observatory |
