I want trips for young single adults. Is contiki my best choice?

Sassafrass May 24th, 2015 11:57 AM

Maybe, maybe not. There are many: AESU, Gadventures, Rick Steves, etc. These are more expensive than Contiki. You will share a room with Contiki. It is not slow paced.

Even with the same company, because participants vary from time to time, the experience will be different.

People here have experience with some tours, but not that much actual experience with many of them. You really have to look at the itineraries and decide for yourself.

But you have a problem . . . you want to go at a slow pace and take your time. Most tours geared to young people are 1) budget (which is good), 2) room-shaing (not good in your case), and 3) very fast paced . . . decide for yourself.

You don't want to hear this (again ;) ) but your best compromise is to go on your own and stay in hostels. You will meet ALL SORTS of other young people and still be able to go at your own case.

oops -- meant to add >>You will meet ALL SORTS of other young people and still be able to go at your own case. . . . and save money<<

Contiki is OK for the age group you want and meeting people. But look at the itineraries they offer, they are not slow paced travel, spending several days in each place, giving you a lot of time to explore on your own. Just not what they're about.

Just decide what's best for you.

why are you asking a bunch of forum people who are all most likely over 40 and have never done a Contiki tour in their life?

>>why are you asking a bunch of forum people who are all most likely over 40 and have never done a Contiki tour in their life?<<

Wrong -- several have been on contiki tours . . . unfortunately the OP wants two totally incompatible things out of the same tour. Meeting/traveling w/ young people vs. taking it slow w/ time to explore at her own pace.

That plus wanting a single room . . . she may not like the advice she is getting but that doesn't make it wrong.

But you are right -- she just has to get off the dime and decide/book something.
