Experiencing trouble posting? Do you use McAfee?

We have a new lead in the case of the mysterious cropped screen that several of you have complained over the past 3 months.

Are the forums not loading properly for you? Is the search function cropped off? Are you unable to see the tag to "Post a new message?"

We noticed that a high number of users that complained of this problem were Comcast users. A Fodorite has written in to say that McAfee anti-virus software was offered to many Comcast subscribers. After tinkering with this McAfee's settings (or uninstalling McAfee as one poster did), the page appeared corrected.

While we further investigate this lead, I wanted to inform the community of this new information---hopefully it will help those of you who haven't been able to fully utilize the Forums.

Also, we'd be curious to hear from folks that do run McAfee with no problems.

Thanks, as always, for your patience!

I have been using McAfee through Comcast for a long time without any problem. I use IE 6. ((*))

Well, I'm a comcast user (need to change that older e-mail address I guess to update the change we made nearly a year ago). We have McAfee and I have consistently have had this screen problem for months. But, I think we may have always had McAfee installed.

Well, the problems started just around the time change this past spring (it was an unusual time change if you'll recall it was three weeks earlier this year). The sudden problem could be related to a McAfee update (or conversely a needed update that maybe wasn't downloaded on the part of the user).

Are you signed up for automatic updates with McAfee?

Yes, the McAfee update caused problems for a lot of users--all sorts of problems involving memory hogging and problems with websites and various software packages. I finally dumped McAfee and have had no problems since.

I have McAfee in the UK(ie no time change probs). I have the problem here, but not at work where there is no McAfee.
