Exmoor or Salisbury area

I have a few days to spend after I leave the Cotswolds....which area would you recommend? I am driving. Thanks for any input.

She's back. (I promised.) What will you be in the mood for? -- Exmoor was wilder, quieter; the area around Salisbury has more great houses, but also Old Sarum. If you decide on Exmoor, try to visit Wells and Glastonbury on your way. J.

I know nothing about either of these two places..just wanted to go somewhere..not in the fast lane...with all that traffic as I am a first time left sided driver...and wanted to see something not too terribly far away. I will be in the Cotswolds already for a week. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

If I remember correctly, Exmoor is not in the fast lane. J.

You would enjoy both places - you could spend a week near either one and not see everyting worthwhile nearby.

I might suggest the Dartmoor area - just a little farther than Exmoor but REALLY beautiful and fascinating. Both Exmoor and Dartmoor are more off the beaten path plus give easy access to the coast for a different experience.

Salisbury is great for Stonehenge, Avebury, the New Forest (lovely scenery, free ranging ponies and a fascinating history) and the southcoast.

If you want to get away from it all - Dartmoor/Exmoor . . .

If you want to see stonehenge, Salisbury and the New forest - Salisbury. . .
