Excursions on Italy cruise ship ports

I could never have planned our first trip to Europe without the helpful info on this site. Does anyone have a good site for arranging port excursions - Carnival ship excursions are pricey. We are 2 people and would like to join a group. Thanks in advance for the info.

You probably need to search each port individually. If you want specific tour advice from us, we'll need to know the docking ports and cities/towns you want to see.

You need to be posting elsewhere IMO such as at cruisecritics.com-

I've been on the roll call of cruise critics many times and have not seen many answers to my question. Many of the people are already going in groups. The ports we are interested in are Florence, Naples and Messina.

On www.cruisecritic.com have you been to the "ports" section and the "roll call" section for your cruise? If neither of those are productive, you might also pull up crusie reviews from your ship - many times reviewers will give the info on the shore excursions they did. And have you posted in the roll call section that you want to be a part of a group? Sorry if I am telling you things you already know but usually good connections can be made thru that website.

Frommers highlighted a company that offers excursions to smaller groups at lower prices. Search his site/blog.

For Napoli/Amalfi:

We docked in Naples instead of the planned tender to Amalfi. We had arranged with Giovanni from www.tourofitaly.com to take us on an all day tour of the Amalfi Coast, stopping in Amalfi, Sorrento, Positano, and Ravello. We went with a couple we "met" through cruise critic and another couple we met on board the ship. It was a wonderful day.

Hi Nana - There are a number of drivers in the Naples area who have had good reviews here:

www.francescomarrapese.com
www.cuomonet.it
www.benvenutolimos.com

www.positanocarservice.com
www.flaviogioia.com

www.seesorrento.com
www.sorrento.it

Alternatively you can tour inexpensively by public transport (- e.g Pompeii, Amalfi etc.) with careful planning.

Or you could visit Capri ...

I certainly appreciate all the helpful hints and sites I have been given. I will be busy tonight going through them. Thanks
