Excited 6days switzerland trip
Hi Travelers,
kindly help what would be the best option to explore Switzerland in 6days? using Swiss Pass/Swiss Flexi Pass/Swiss Card if traveling with 8adults + 3children (below 16yrs old)? we only have to buy 8adults since 3children are free with parents accompany right? should we buy 5days or 6days? from Geneva and return from Basel to Amsterdam.
how it works? the pass entitled for discounted ticket going to mt.titlis/jungfraugh and some others place for the price of 8+3free or have to pay price of 11discounted ticket or 8discounted+3full fare? trying to understand if anyone have used it before purchase.
should we book for pass or point to point ticket start from Geneva? and also if the Pass entitled for discount if we book night train from Basel to Amsterdam?
Our initial itinerary as follow:
time: mid Aug.
from Nice flight to Geneva, arriving early morning in Geneva (Fri).
FRI - SUN = Geneva to Lucerne (2night in Lucerne)
SUN - WED = proceed to Interlaken (3night in interlaken)
the last night will be take overnight train from Basel to Amsterdam (Basel train time at 22.00PM).
about the sightseeing still under searching, now just finalize the route.
any idea if Geneva airport to Train station is easily connected? any place to keep our luggage in train station?
which one is the most economical and reasonable to take, need your idea Please.. Thanks.
Cheers,
Latif

Count about 5 min on foot from Geneva airport baggage claim area to the platforms of the airport railway station.
Ask for a free family card when you buy your Swiss Pass or Half Fare Card and your kids up to 16 years will travel for free everywhere in Switzerland as long as they are accompanied by at least 1 Swiss Pass etc. holder.
Many mountain railways don't grant free rides to Swiss Pass holders, but only reduced fares (but kids don't pay anyway). Jungfrau railway is the worst among them (only 25 per cent discount). Have a look at the area of validity map (pdf document) that you will find under http://www.swisstravelsystem.com/en/...html?id=137558
Swiss Pass holders get no reductions on German railways (Basel - Amsterdam). Discounted Basel - Amsterdam flights are sometimes cheaper than the train http://www.easyjet.com

For lots of great info on Swiss trains and passes (which cover not only trains but lake boats, postal buses and city buses and trams but also give free etnry to 400+ Swiss museums) check out these IMO fantastic sites - www.swisstravelsystem.com; www.budgeteuropetravel.com and www.ricksteves.com.
The only Swiss flexipass anyone should consider is a 3-day one - as you get 50% off everything that moves practically in Switzerland in between your first and last unlimited travel day - this is why a 4-day flexipass is rarely as good a deal as a 3-day pass. Thus do not chose a 5- or 6-day flexipass (if possible buyt only consider either 4- or 8-consecutive-day passes if they comport to your travel time needs.

Hi Neckervd & PalenQ, Thanks for reply and quickly went through the website for better understanding.
if our start from Geneva to Lucern in the afternoon, meaning we have already use one day of Swiss pass. so for next 5night in Lucerne + Interlaken, total is 6days. meaning we have to purchase 8days saver Swiss Pass at CHF 334/pax.
4 days 231 CHF
8 days 334 CHF
swiss flexi saver pass for 6days 352CHF
5 days within 1 month 309 CHF
Swiss Flexi Pass 6 days 352 CHF
the different is CHF18 only. is it value worth if purchase 8days Swiss Pass instead? i cant find any different between two passes, still have to pay for discounted ticket for mountain rail/scenic route. if any idea please.. Thanks

8 straight days covers everything every day - even local buses or lake boats - the flexipass gives X number of days of unlimted travel and in between you get 50% off on other days - price a 3-day flexipass - the most any normal traveler should ever buy - and then you'd get 50% off everything you take on off days between your first and last unlimited flexible travel day.
It is RARE that a 4-dauy or 5-day or whatever -day Swiss Flexipass will be cheaper overall than the minimum 3-day flexipass.
