Evora or Elvas - March 2023
 

We are trying to decide where to stay between Merida, Spain and Lisbon, Portugal for three nights in March 2023. We will be travelling by bus.

Elvas appeals to my travel companion who has an interest in military history and I am keen to see Roman architecture so Evora seems to be calling my name.

We also want to stay somewhere that has good restaurants, quiet plazas and nice vistas.

Help me decide.

it would be Evora for me, although Elvas is closer to Mérida.
There are more great dining choices in Evora and more nice lodging choices, but from both cities there are many interesting day trips to enjoy.
