I am thinking of visiting Evora on my way to Algarve.Is it worth visiting ?<BR>Is it easy to navigate the city by foot?<BR>

Visited Evora 10 yrs ago.Very hot in summer.Flat terrain.Many old ruins.Visit the church displaying a large room full of skeletons.Eerie.Enjoy.A good stop on way to Algarve.

yes it is very easy to walk around on foot, but NOT in the summer (in the shade easily gets to 40º).<BR>It is also easy to drive from Lisbon to &Eacute;vora. Just take Highway A2.

you checked out Alentejo region ,it seems to be extremely hot in Summer .Thank you all for your valuable information.Could you possibly recommend me a one day stay in Portugal between Lisbon and Albufeira.Iam going to stay in Lisbon 3 days and 2 in Albufeira ,i just chose Evora because it is in the middle and it seems to be such a great town .I would prefer a city close to the sea...anyway your ideas are welcome!

I was in Evora about 3 years ago. it's worth a visit to see the Capella dos Osos (a chapel of a church entirely covered by human bones). However, we had planned on staying in the Pousada there which was a converted monastery. We took a look and left; it didn't look worth the price. From there we drove to the next Pousada on the map, in the tiny town of Alvito. There, we stayed in the Queen's bedroom in a 15th century castle. john,<BR>Ditto to all the above regarding Evora.<BR>Very attractive town to visit, also the surrounding area of the Alentejo (Vila Vicosa, Arriolas-the rug town, Estremoz, Reguengos, Monsaraz-delightful citadel town) with lots of attractive pousada/manor house accomodations but hotter than a firecracker in the summer. We made the mistake of visiting the Alentejo in July on our way down to Andaluc&iacute;a-two veritable ovens.

If you came across the name of Evora... you don't want to miss the chance of being so close and not to visit it!<BR><BR>Ok it is hot in Summer (Up to 40ºC sometimes) but the early morning is absolutely gorgeous and also the dusk...and night! When all those walls radiate the heat up, while the dew is coming dow...
