Evening Wear In Prague
Hi Everyone,
Ok....just one more question. Will it be acceptable to wear a pair of fancy slacks and a nice top with heels for the evenings in Prague or is it better to pack a dress? Will also be stopping by Budapest and Vienna on this trip. So am hoping to catch a performance at the Opera House in Vienna as well. Thanks!

If you can manage heels on cobbles then wear them. I only pack flats.
No one dressed up at night in these cities (except for the opera perhaps or classical concert). Most people in the main areas will be tourists (other than the locals working there) and they are wearing normal tourist clothing. Nothing fancy. In Prague the church concerts saw a mix of attire but again nothing fancy.

Sorry for the double post guys! I didn't know that it didn't make a difference which country I was posting to. I guess it all comes up under Europe. Thanks for letting me know Loveitaly. =)

I will second the comment that you do not need to dress up, in general, for evenings in Prague. We did attend a concert in Obecni Dum (the Municipal House), and people were dressed up, in either (for women) skirts or black dress pants; most women were wearting skirts. Everywhere else, people were dressed very casually.
Cobblestones and heels do NOT mix well. I have a pair of wedges that I call my Europe shoes, because they give me a heel height that works with dress pants or skirts, but don't get caught in the cobblestones.

shiuri - there is only the Europe forum. The list of countries is for searching ease. It doesn't matter if you click on a country but if you do remember then when you're looking for info on Hungary the search engine can more easily bring up those posts. Check your other post - someone has replied.

Hi again shiuri, it is confusing, the website that is. But yes all threads/post posted on the Europe Board does end up on the Europe Board. Fodor's is now doing the tagging thing. And if one for example uses the Search box for say Austria the threads pertaining to Austria are suppose to show up. The website has had many glitches for ages but as of today it seems to be working properly and hopefully will from now on.
Regarding heels, I feel more secure wearing heels than I do wedgies, but we are all so different. And a good looking pair of flats is just fine also. When I go to Italy I like to pack on lightweight silk black dress for those times when I want to feel more dressed up. Not necessary but just something I like to do. Or a black or dark colored suit. One that has a jacket I can wear with pants and the skirt that I can wear with other tops..mix match. I always tuck one small evening clutch into my luggage as that gives a dressier look for evening events be it a concert or going to a nice restaurant.
