Evening Buckingham Palace Tour
Champagne tours are available beginning at either 5:30 or 6pm - any advantage to either time slot?
One wonders if you are rushed out after the later tour as everyone is then done for the day, or if perhaps there is more champagne on offer, as they might as well use it up? A little question certainly, but thanks for any advice! |

No advantage to either one. They are identical tours. No rushing out that I sensed.

We did the earlier one last March and did not feel rushed at all. They give you plenty of time at the end for champagne and to take advantage of the discount they offer you in the gift shop. :D However, if you are concerned, the later tour is not all that much later.

To clarify - I think that last year the tours were at 5PM and 5:30 -- not 100% sure. But whichever . . . I was in the 2nd tour and didn't feel at all rushed.

Ah, but was there extra champagne??

Just to report back, we took the later 6pm tour and it seemed to be at capacity. The guide was very good and the champagne generously offered.
My only disappointment was that the famous Balcony is on the east side of the palace, an area not included in this State Rooms visit. Two different staff members referenced "the adoring public" at the Palace gates, so this is evidently an inside joke among workers...it jarred just a little as five minutes later, we were again on the outside looking in. Many thanks to janisj and others who mentioned this opportunity; I would not have known about it otherwise! |
