EuroStar train reservations
 

We will be traveling to Italy in late May/early June. How far in advance can we purchase our Eurostar train tickets online? I have visited the Trenitalia website, but do not have the option to purchase ticket reservations for our dates.

We will be making the following trips on ES trains:
- Rome to Naples (and back to Rome)
- Rome to Florence
- Milan to Venice
- Venice to Rome

Neetse - Up to 60 days in advance for online bookings.

But you can just as easily book all your tickets in Rome. A day in advance is plenty.

The Trenitalia site, which I used just a few days ago to buy tickets from Rome to Naples will allow you to purchase tickets 59 days ahead of the trip date. The have a new ticketless option, which i used, that eliminates the requirement to pick up your tickets in the train station. Just board the train and when they collect tickets, give the train conductor your resevation number from the email they send you. The ES reservation will include seat reservations as well.
If your plans are definite, I recommend resevations well in advance. Less stess.

RJD- I've tried to get a login for Trenitalia to do a price comparison between them and Rail Europe on two seperate occasions but never get the email confirmation to purchase tickets online. Would you happen to know if Rail Europe adds a mark up to the tickets they sell? I would prefer to get it from Trenitalia as they list all the train time options whereas RE doesn't. Thx

Sorry about the trouble with the Trenitalia site. Keep trying and make sure your email address is correct. There is an a premium on the Rail Europe site of about 20% I think. But it is convienient.

The email is correct. I also went to the new site today and tried to register and it still doesn't work. we may just ask the hotel to purchcase the tickets for us.

A good resource to compare prices is Budget Europe 1 800 441 9414 or 800 441 2387. They quoted the lowest prices for our EuroStar fare, compared to websites.

I feel like I'm getting the shaft from BETS. Once I add in their fees, its always more expensive than the US version of the Eurostar site for me.
