eurostar tickets thru travelpro
Anyone have any experience with these folks? They are offering discounted tickets from london to paris and I want to be sure if they are legit.
Thanks |
$29? I'm sure not finding that fare anywhere for 12/30/07 one way, 1 adult, two youth
sorry, forgot to mention, travelpro is offering tickets at $91 USD
GBP29 is about US$60. Why not just check Eurostar website? It's usually cheaper if you travel mid-week.
I checked eurostar.com, registering as both a resident of the US and the UK, and found $152 to be the lowest US price for 30 December and the UK price, when converted from GBP, to be nearly twice that. You're traveling at a peak time, but I imagine that travelpro has a block of tickets they bought at a low price and can now sell to you. I can't tell you if they're legit; but if they are, buy now!

Hi J,
$91 pp one way is much lower than any of the prices shown at www.eurostar.com or www.raileurope.com. Sorry, can't help with the agency. The only travelpro I could find sells luggage. ((I)) |
If my memory is correct, is it not cheaper to buy 2-way, and throw away the return tickets?
Hi MP,
Usually, that is correct. The OP wants to travel on Sunday, Dec 30. Prices are high both 1 way and RT. ((I)) |
If my memory is correct, is it not cheaper to buy 2-way, and throw away the return tickets?
No rarely is at least from the U.S. and the cheapest 2-way tickets would not be available if a cheap one-way ticket is not. You are thinking of the $94 or so day returns that can be cheaper than one ways but the chance of these being available at that time is nil and at other times there are comparable one ways that would be available if the day return was IMO check www.eurostar.com as it seems to have cheapest fares often - in U.S. i don't know anything about TravelPro but have never heard of a firm re-selling Eurostar tickets bought in bulk. I though they were a universal price - and i always recommend giving Byron at call at BETS 800-441-2387 as they do a manual search which often can yield a cheaper price than on raileurope.com - always compare $ prices and pound prices at www.eurostar.com IMO |
"Resale" is probably an inacurate term. When I meant to say is that travelpro may be acting as a consolidator and have been assigned a certain number of tickets it can sell at a certain price.
I'm using the Eurostar on Dec 29-Jan 1st. I bought a week ago off the Eurostar website and paid: $123 each way. I could get $91 each way on their website earlier in the week, but not that close to New Years.
Thanks all, I have found a one-way for one adult and two youth on 12/31 from london to paris for $248 USD. I'm thinking this is the best deal I've found.
jasmo - do you have web site of travelpro? Is that where you finally got the ticket?
would like to know more about them thanks |
The site is www.chunneltrain.net and I found a cheaper rate on eurostar for the 31st
That is, I found a cheaper rate on eurostar.com vs. travelpro
thanks - the use of the word 'chunnel' in the web site will set off English fuses perhaps?
I reckon it might, but I didn't choose it :)
And another correction - the best fare was at eurail.com not eurostar (sorry for the error) |
Hmm, Ira, not seeing a place to click "flexible"
