Eurostar Prices - Par to Lond
Hi -
Planning my first trip to Europe in mid-October. Interested in taking the train from Paris to London (leave Wed evening, return to Paris Sunday afternoon). I looked on eurostar.com last week and the prices were $66.50 each way (for 2ppl). Today they are $140 each way (for 2ppl)! Is this normal for the price to go up? Will it go back down again? :) And is traveling "Standard, Non-Flexible" ok? I see that is the cheapest. Thanks so much for any advice. I'm so new to this! M- |
Hi Mb,
That was quite a deal. I've never seen Paris/London at only $33 pp. The best I've seen has been $45 each way when bought on a one-day RT ticket. ((I)) |
Prices go up the closer you are to travelling, as the cheap seats get sold. Also, the most popular times of day to travel are, not surprisingly, more expensive.
Standard class is OK for the length of journey. First Class has more space around the seats, but for two or three hours it's hardly worth a lot extra. As for "non-flexible", how likely are you to want to change your arrangements? If you're happy to tie yourself down to a specific date and time to travel, then go for the cheapest rate. If you want to keep your options open, it'll cost more. |

The Eurostar fares change constantly, but you can probably forget any promotional fares for the time being, due to all of the extra passengers who don't want to fly in or out of London until further notice (whether because too much of a hassle or too nervous). In the dead of winter, there have been round trips available for two for 50 € total, albeit not at the most convenient hours.
