Eurostar Paris-Amsterdam
Quick question re: luggage on Eurostar train. First time taking train for an overnight stay and not clear on the luggage stowage situation. Can you fit a standard "rollaboard" in the rack above the seats or only small totes/backpacks?
The luggage allowance is generous, 2 bags I believe, but not clear if they will have to be placed at the central luggage racks in back of coach. Thanks, appreciate the helpful posts on this forum. |
We were able to put our small roller suitcases on the overhead rack, however there is also a storage shelf/bin at the end of the train car where you can place your bag. This is handy if you are unable to lift your bag. We've used both when on the Eurostar and not worried about our bags in the bin because the Eurostar didn't make any stops.

Thank you for the response.

The racks above the seats are not very wide so only suitable for a small bag and obviously something quite light, as you have to lift it over your head. The luggage racks at the ends of the carriage get full, in my limited experience, you might get a suitcase in there but otherwise you'd need to walk through to other carriages to find space.

Thank you would you say they are smaller than a typical plane overhead?

We've usually been able to stash our smaller rollaboards on the overhead - it's more a shelf than a bin, but stowing the bag longways works. Larger rollaboards may be more of a problem, but the space at the end of the carriage is an option.

They are smaller than the overhead lockers on a plane. As mentioned, it is a shelf and not that wide.
