Eurostar from London to Paris $
What is a reasonable rate for a one-way trip on the Eurostar from London to Paris? We'll be traveling on a Wednesday in March? Is eurostar.com the best way to purchase?
|
As far as I know there is a cheap return ticket offered. A friend bought this last year and just used the trip oneway.
|
One-way fares are expensive. Your cheapest option ($90) is to buy a return (roundtrip) ticket for travel on Monday through Thursday between 11:00 and 15:00. Next is to buy a same day return ticket ($94) which has no time restrictions. In either case just throw away the return portion. Seats are limited at these prices so visit eurostar.com and buy them now or you'll end up paying a lot more.

Just go to the site, and book. One way fares aren't more expensive. You have to basically buy two one way fares, and the total price is the two added together.
(I should say that this is the case if you select the UK option - it may be different if you say you are a yank). I've just bought a ticket for the end of February and it was £80 return - £30 london-paris and £50 paris london (sunday evening so a higher demand) |
Hi B,
The cheapest one-way rate is to buy a same day RT ticket - 60 GBP. Also check www.raileurope.com. If the exchange rate is favorable, they could be less than www.eurostar.com. ((I)) |
..I bought a rd trip 1 day excursion on the eurostar sight. I have paid $90 US and I plan to use it only 1 way.

Okay, that's what I thought. I found $94 round-trip or $90 one-way. At first I thought that was high, but I guess that's the going rate. I understand the tickets will need to be picked up at the Waterloo station. Is this a long process? Our departure time is 10:40 am on a Wednesday. Will I need to allow significant time for ticketing or is it a "walk up and print your tickets" situation?

Hi B,
You will need at least an hour before train time. The Eurostar operates like an airline - security check, etc. ((I)) |
| All times are GMT -8. The time now is 03:38 AM. |
