I've checked Eurostar.com and RailEurope - looks like the best price I can get is $120US per person - does this sound right?

There is a restricted fare of £59 return on the eurostar web site with lots of restrictions. The $120 rt may also involve other fees and is somewhat more expensive.

Where are you going from/to?? In Dec 2004, we paid the equivalent of $90 pp one way from Paris to London 2nd class. We bought the tickets 4 months in advance. Second class is perfectly fine if you are on a short trip. As there were 4 of us, we reserved a banquette, brought our lunch, had a picnic on the train and by the time we finished, we were in London. Hope this helps.

RailEurope's fares are, cheapest: $90 one-way or round trip - trains leaving between 11am and 3pm Mon-Thu
$120 any train Mon-thu
$150 any train anytime
can mix fare levels ($105 round trip by taking half of $90 and half of $120 for example)
the above are non-changeable, non-refundable and in limited availability so reserve early as possible - can book up to 9 months in advance thru RailEurope if want to lock in fares that could rise.
Other fares
$youth under 26 $45-$60-$75 depending on same above three time frames (11-3 Mon-thu, etc.) but can be changed once in Europe without penalty
senior 60 plus $90 one way - also can be changed.
passholder fare (railpass covering UK, Benelux or France) $75 can be changed once without penalty. To check RailEurope's fares i always recommend going thru BETS (800-441-2387), a Rail Europe agent who are eurostar experts who also don't charge some of RE's mailing fees. The 59 pound return fare sounds good, though if traveling Mon-Thu 11am-3pm you could get a $90 round trip thru RailEurope

Just to clarify the £59 is available at all times on all trains, although it is capcity controlled and requires a 21 day advance purchase and a Saturdan night stay over...

For weekend travel at least this 59 pound fare seems like a steal.
