Eurostar

We want take the Eurostar from London to Paris and return from Calais to London. The raileurope rep. say it's not possible to combine for a round trip fair. If this is correct, it will be less costly to purchase two round trips and throw away the return portions. Has anyone encountered a problem with this?

It's very common practise as a return ticket is often less than a single. No problem.

Hi C,

No problem at all.

No one will know, or care, that you didn't go back to London from Paris.

Ditto, that you won't return to Calais from London.

I can't understand what Raileurope are on about. Who are they, anyway? Some kind of travel agent?

Buy just one return ("round trip" in some of our languages's weirder dialects) ticket, checking first it's on a train that actually stops at Calais coming back. Then just get on the train at Calais. Eurostar - the operators of the service - won't care, whever ths agent might think.

As long as the return train stops in Calais you won't have any problems - but make sure it is a Calais train. Just buy the cheapest London/Paris R-T you can find and get on the train in Calais. The seats are all reserved so you will be fine. (Your problem was asking them about Calais in the first place)
