Eurorail pass
I am about to purchase a Eurorail ticket for 6 countries 11 days fexi not consecutive for Europe starting in Amsterdam and ending in Paris. Some of the trips by rail are 5-8 hours long they would be worth the pass) however some train trips only 1-2 hours long. Am I better to buy tickets for the shorter trips than get a pass for the longer trips it works out to $75.00Australian dollars a trip for the 11 days.

Sorry
I meant to say "Am I better to buy tickets for the shorter trips at the station and get a pass for the longer trips". |
Whether it's worth getting a rail pass depends entirely on which journeys you're making. In most European countries, rail fares are calculated from the distance (not the duration of the journey).
You can see local fares on national rail websites such as www.ns.nl, www.b-rail.be or www.bahn.de. |
