Eurorail or separate
 

My wife and I are travelling to Budapest, Prague and Vienna this May. Is it better to purchase one of the Eurorail tickets for travel between the three countries, or individual tickets? Is it better to fly between the countries? Our planned travel is USA - Budapest - Praque - Vienna.

Can anyone comment on the validity of a suggestion I received that one can buy a eurorail 2nd class ticket to a distant destination (like say Amsterdam to Prague) and make numerous stopovers in route at no extra cost?

Probably won't be a problem.<BR><BR>Your use of the term "Eurorail tickets" (and charlie too) seems to imply that there is one seamless multinational rail company. There is not. There are individual rail companies for each country - - they just work together pretty seamlessly. So policies on this may differ slightly from country to country, but I don't think that pricing will forbid you from getting off and on as you like.<BR><BR>Best wishes,<BR><BR>Rex<BR>

Rex : Thanks for your comments. It appears that point to point 2nd class tickets could be more economical for me than a Eurorail Pass, given the apparent flexibility.
