Europe's Most Beautiful Urban Bridge?
If you had to chose only one bridge in a European city that you've seen what would be the most comeliest?
To me it's hands-down Tower Bridge, London! What about you? And beauty is in the eye of the beholder! |
probably Pont Alexandre III in Paris or Charles Bridge in Prague (minus the people).
|
I think we should expand this to Europe's top five bridges!
I'll add Charles Bridge too Rialto Ponte Vecchio Cologne's main railway bridge - said to be busiest in Europe - ordinary train tressle but huge and so busy - love walking across it - all the trains trundling constantly across it -beauty in eye f beholder for sure! |
The elbow bridge in Limeuil.
|
Agree with Christina’s choices. Adding beautiful bridges of St.Petersburg. My favorites are bridges over Griboedov Canal: the Bridge of Four Lions and Bank Bridge. Also, famous Anichkov Bridge with four statues of The Horse Tamers over Fontanka River, one of the city landmarks. |
Pont du Gard in Provence and the Chain Bridge in Budapest.
Oops, I guess Pont du Gard is not exactly "urban!" Sorry. |
Ponte San Angelo, Roma.
|
In no particular order, and just a few of my faves:
Erasmusbrug, Rotterdam, the Squinty Bridge (Clyde Arc) Glasgow, Millenium Bridge, Gateshead Infinity Bridge, Stockton on Tees Vasco Da gama, Lisbon. Yes I love modern bridges. |
I love modern bridges too and Vasco da Gama Bridge is one of my favorites. We also loved the 6 bridges cruise in Porto - six modern bridges over the Douro River are truly spectacular. https://www.europeanbestdestinations...-cruise-porto/ |
And Pont du Gard is not a bridge, it is an aquaduct. :-)
